County demonstration contest is held prior to the fair. The Fair Board strongly encourages youth to repeat their demonstrations at the fair.

Department J-31, Class A – Agricultural & General Demonstrations

Department J-31, Class C – Communications

To be judged face-to-face Wednesday.

Open to members enrolled in Speaking, Communications and Creative Writing projects.

Posters should be 14 x 22.

 Premiums Offered

Blue – $2.50
Red – $2.25
White – $2.00
Pink – $1.75

  1. A recording (listened to or viewed), 5 to 10 minutes, of you practicing a speech, with a short note describing what you noticed when you listened to or viewed the.recording.
  2. A photo exhibit, scrapbook, collage or computer document about the things you discovered from a person you interviewed.
  3. A poster or collage that illustrates things families can do together instead of watching television.
  4. Any other communications project.

Department J-31, Class D – Creative Writing

To be judged face-to-face Wednesday.

Open to members enrolled in Speaking, Communications and Creative Writing projects.  The judge will read written pieces.

  1. A scrapbook or notebook of original poetry including at least one of the following: “found poem,” nature poem, cinquaine, “telephone or vertical poem,” or any other original poem. Judge will read at least three poems of their choice.
  2. An original book review about your favorite book. No more than 3 pages.
  3. Any other original creative piece (poem, short story, essay or play). No more than 3 pages.
  4. Report related to another project you are enrolled in. No more than 3 pages.
